What you will do as our Environmental Health & Safety Specialist:   

 

Summary: The EHS Specialist oversees daily operations of Environmental Health Safety programs, acts as subject matter expert (SME) and point of contact to EH&S consultants to ensure adherence to procedures and regulations.

 

REPORTS TO:  Manufacturing Engineering Manager

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Ensure that the Environmental Health and Safety system is establish and conforms to ISO, CAL/OSHA and Corporate Standards.
  2. Coordinate and perform regularly scheduled Safety inspections of all Tecan SP departments.
  3. Coordinate and administer all Safety trainings and on-boarding of new employees.
  4. Identifies training needs/deficiencies, identifying priorities for training of departments and specific programs. 
  5. Ensure all accidents are promptly investigated and the root causes are identified and mitigated to prevent recurrence.
  6. Reviews and analyzes injury frequency records and loss runs to develop improvement strategies.
  7. Ensure all notification and reports to regulatory agencies such as OSHA, CAL/OSHA, EPA, CAL EPA, SCAQMD and local Fire agencies are performed in a timely manner.
  8. Serve as primary contact for all regulatory agencies and coordinate all necessary inspections, permit submittals, and reporting are done.
  9. Assist facilities, production, assembly, and product development departments in meeting all required safety guidelines.
  10. Participate in Gemba walks and address any Safety issues.
  11. Establish and chair the safety committee.
  12. Ensures that safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed.
  13. Update EHS Action Plans/PD goals and attend monthly meetings.
  14. Prepare EHS reports for corporate KPI’s.
  15. Support the Quality System and Quality Policy by following procedures / work instructions and creating records to meet the requirements of Tecan SP, Inc. Quality System and ISO registration.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITEIS INCLUDE THE PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB. THE JOB DESCRIPTION SHALL NOT BE CONSTRUED AS A COMPLETE LISTING OF ALL MISCELLANEOUS, INCIDENTAL OR OTHER DUTIES, WHICH MAY BE ASSIGNED DURING NORMAL OPERATIONS.

 

TRAINING, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS: 

 

  • AA degree or equivalent training, BS in Environmental Science preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in related manufacturing and laboratory environment.
  • General knowledge of EH&S and OHSA regulations as it pertains to manufacturing operations and laboratory operations required.
  • General knowledge of ISO 13485 or FDA regulations required.
