The Field Service Applications Specialist (FSAS) is responsible for the Post-Sale Liquid Handling platform-based application solutions within the Americas. This person will be the technical resource to assist and support the Field Automation Engineer. An application solution combines software, software scripts, hardware, and biology to target a specific application. These application solutions could include instrument components from one or more Business Units, collaboration with third-party instrument and/or reagent vendors, and interaction with the Market Managers in the Business Units. The person in this position will act as an expert and knowledge source for the Tecan service team and will be a liaison with the Application Scientists of the sales and application team.

 

 

This position is for the Midwest territory. Living in Chicago or adjacent areas with access to a major airport is necessary as you will travel 50-60% of the time.

Experience

  • BSc in Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Biology, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant liquid handling and automation experience gained within an academic or industry setting, including writing automation applications in the instrument's native language or software.
  • Experience with VBScript, VBA, and .NET applications is preferable.
  • Experience with a range of molecular biology techniques, including NGS sample preparation, NA purification, quantification and normalization, PCR, and qPCR reaction setup.
  • Experience with automated instrumentation is required.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with customers and internal associates
  • Practical knowledge of Windows Applications.
