Associate Vice President, Marketing and Market Development
Morrisville, NC

Your contribution

Develop and achieve the Market Unit Marketing plan and related client services to support the achievement of sales/profit objectives. This position will interface with Global Marketing team and selected global resources in the development of U.S. marketplace strategies.

  • Manages overall marketing and client services operations for the Market Unit.  Manage activities through structured KPI’s and Action Plans.
  • Oversee product launch management, presentations, and competitive analysis.
  • Work with the President and other executive team members to identify and develop strategic alliances, and close/grow major customer accounts
  • Develop and maintain key external professional relationships to facilitate marketplace awareness of new technology and market trends.  Awareness of market positioning and competitor strengths/weaknesses.
  • Collaborate with MU head and Senior Management Team on all planning activities. Actively participate with Senior Management Team in the development of the 5-year Strategic Plan and Budget, regularly identifying opportunities in the market, competitive activity, and market trends that will affect the business. Strategic planning will focus on market penetration and growth initiatives.
  • Supports the forecasting process (rolling forecast and quarterly forecasts) for the sales and service organizations
  • Support and drive the usage and maintenance of the company’s CRM software solution.
  • Achieves financial objectives by preparing a budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions. 
  • Identify strategic market areas of importance for the organization to focus on.
  • Works collaboratively with the Sales and Service teams and related global teams on new market opportunities, technology, product improvements, and competition. 
  • Develop and implement systems and policies driving the interviewing and hiring of all departmental personnel consistent departmental goals.  Ensure that performance is routinely evaluated, and performance appraisals are completed within the department.
  • Direct all activity relating to Trade Shows, Conventions, and collaborate with Sales and Service for National Sales Meeting.
  • Regularly travels with sales and service staff, providing insight coaching and mentoring.
  • Maintains open and regular communications to Business Units and Executive Management in Switzerland and Austria on all important matters within the market units.
  • Handles essential tasks as assigned and responds to change productively.
  • Follows all local safety procedures, State and Federal OSHA Regulations, and reports any safety concerns.

 

Your background

  • BS degree in Life Sciences or equivalent experience is desired. 
  • Master of Business Administration is desired
  • Professional experience includes 10 years (minimum) in progressively responsible management positions as an Associate Vice President and/or Regional Sales Manager/Director
  • Significant and successful product launch experience into the healthcare market
  • Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively is very important. 
  • Familiarity with the latest developments in management techniques.
  • Experience in establishing budgets, planning, forecasting and P&L
  • Experience in international economics, marketing and information systems is desired.
  • Quantitative, financial and computer skills.
  • Knowledge of several languages may be beneficial.
  • Ability to lead staff with confidence, motivation, decisiveness, flexibility, sound business judgment. 
  • Ability to recognize and manage potential problem areas and resolve them with sound judgement and integrity. 
  • Ability to manage and develop sales territories and regions while also manageing costs and risks.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate (orally and written) both technical and non-technical topics
  • Strong presentation skills demonstrated before customer, peers, and upper management. 
  • Ability to understand the needs of clients, staff and co-workers.
  • Must be self-motivated. 
  • Ability to mesh well with others by being a good listener, a team builder and an articulate advocate of the vision.
  • Ability to travel locally, regional as well as internationally and at times on short notice
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • High level of integrity, commitment and initiative.
