Director of Aftermarket Sales

What you will do

Be a leader, innovator, and motivator of the organization by exemplifying the visions and values of the organization. Direct reports include Inside Sales team.

 

The Director of Aftermarket Sales is responsible for achieving sales targets and the direct sales management of the inside sales team for Tecan US. His/Her primary roles are to ensure that the budget for Consumable and Service contract sales are met or exceeded within acceptable profit goals.

 

Responsibilities will include

Sales Management:

  • Daily sales management of all sales personnel. Includes performance evaluations, sales training, daily coaching and mentoring, monthly sales forecasting, hiring of new sales reps and developing action plans to fix underperforming sales personnel and territories.
  • Directs the inside sales team in achievement of budget, revenue recognition while managing costs and expense objectives.
  • Develops and maintains effective time, territory, and account management practices with the team.
  • Drive the forecasting process (rolling forecast and quarterly forecasts) for the inside sales team.
  • Responsible for reps maintaining the accurate and timely information into the current CRM.
  • Responsible for setting sales quotas for individual sales people within the guidelines set by Tecan US overall sales budgets.
  • Develops a compensation plan to drive consumable and contract sales.
  • Interviews, hires, trains and develops all departmental personnel consistent with departmental goals. Insures that performance is routinely evaluated and performance appraisals are completed within the department.

 

 

Growth and Financial Management:

  • Collects and maintains up-to-date competitive and market information to disseminate to the sales force as well as the marketing and manufacturing sites.
  • Maintains sufficient knowledge of accounts in order to support reps in the development of account strategies to drive growth
  • Creates and analyze customer activity and plans for future sales.
  • Travels to meet with key accounts.
  • Responds to problems or complaints that arise in accounts, either by personal action or by securing the assistance and support from others in the organization.
  • Participates in sales, marketing and product strategy meetings on a regular basis to ensure we remain on target to achieve predetermined goals. 
  • Completes all reports and customer information effectively and consistently as deemed necessary by the company
  • Authors and administers applicable Consumable and Service contracts
  • Responsible for implementing pricing and discounting guidelines to ensure profitability targets are met.
  • Responsible for achieving US sales targets in consumables, services and Tecan reagents.

 

Business Management:

  • Serves as a responsible representative of Tecan US, Inc. and operates with integrity and honesty in all business contacts.
  • Develops and maintains a high level of consultative sales skills and outbound communications throughout the Tecan-US customer base.
  • Works collaboratively with Field Sales, Field Service, Training and related global teams on sales process, new market opportunities, technology, product improvements, and competition. 
  • Works collaboratively with internal groups (operations and technical support) to ensure a top level of customer service and support are upheld for clients
  • Support of marketing activities, develop sales collateral to support inside sales team.
  • Handles essential tasks as assigned, and responds to change productively.

Experience

  • BA/BS degree in Business, Marketing, Life Sciences or Equivalent  (Required)
  • Professional experience includes 5 - 7 years in a progressively responsible sales management position.  (Required)
  • Proven track record in achieving sales goals by developing/growing our business and in leading a team.  (Required)
  • Key Account Management experience, 2 - 3 years (minimum)
  • Additional life science or biotech sales management experience in a related company or industry is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively is very important. 
  • Familiarity with the latest developments in management techniques.
  • Experience in establishing budgets, planning and forecasting.
