HR Generalist

What you will do

The HR Generalist maintains and enhances the organization’s human resources by supporting and enforcing human resource policies, programs and practices. They are responsible for the talent acquisition, talent management and talent development programs and will support employee relations, engagement and training efforts. 


Responsibilities will include

  • Responsible for the end-to-end Talent Acquisition process. 
    • Partners with hiring managers to understand business needs and to ensure that the job description is aligned with meeting those needs. 
    • Ensures open positions are tracked, approved and posted through Success Factors.
    • Coordinates with the hiring manager and Quality to ensure that open/new positions are accurately mapped to the Master Training Plans. 
    • Partners with hiring manager to ensure adequate candidate flow.  Coordinates efforts of external recruiters, as needed. 
    • In coordination with the HR Director, interviews all final candidates prior to offer. 
    • Partners with hiring manager to finalize offer.  Routes offers for approval in Success Factors.
    • Ensures a smooth hand-off within HR and with other functions for a successful onboarding.
  • Supports Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts.  Serves as a partner and resource to our Employee Resources Groups. 
  • Drives employee engagement and employee survey efforts.  Responsible for employee communications, including announcements and newsletters. 
  • Supports the design and selection of employee/management training programs.  Coordinates training programs.
  • Updates, monitors and maintains HR Information Systems (HRIS) (ADP, SAP and Success Factors).  Keeps employee file records and systems up-to-date by entering data for internal transfers, promotions and terminations.            
  • Serves as a back-up for payroll and benefit administration.                                     
  • Supports and serves as backup to the HR onboarding process for all new hires, including completion of new employee paperwork and processes and pre-qualifications including background checks and E-verify.         
  • Prepares termination packages and tracks all associated documentation with hiring and leaving employees.                                                                            
  • Serves as back-up for all employee benefits and leaves of absences, including FMLA, as the contact and named administrator                                                                   
  • Responds to unemployment claims, reference checks and salary verifications.     
  • Serves as back-up administrator for Corporate Credit Card Program.        
  • Maintains the Service Award Program.                                                                    
  • In coordination with HR colleagues, prepares required annual government and employee benefit reports and records filings such as EEOC, Census data, VETS 100 Report, 300A, ACA reporting (healthcare reform), etc.
  • Supports other Human Resources activities and requirements as necessary and in the absence of the Human Resources Director.
  • May coordinate the Worker’s Compensation program and participate as a member of the Safety Committee                                         
  • Handles essential tasks as assigned, and responds to change productively.
  • Follows all local safety procedures, State and Federal OSHA Regulations, and reports any safety concerns.


What you bring along


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Psychology, Human Resources or a related field
  • PHR certification preferred
  • Minimum 1 year experience in Human Resources.
  • Practical knowledge of Microsoft and Windows applications
  • Working knowledge of a HRIS system(s)
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel is required  
  • SAP and ADP experience a plus



  • Ability to treat confidential information in a professional manner, and discuss only with the Director/VP of HR, CFO, or President, or a person designated by them.  Any knowledge of confidential information is to be used only in the conduct of official business of Tecan.
  • Excellent computer skills, including the use of spreadsheets at the highest level, and an aptitude for web-based systems, specifically ADP
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and work well under pressure (multi-task)
  • Detailed oriented
  • Strong knowledge and experience dealing with employee relations issues and their resolution and legal requirements..
  • Ability to recognize potential problem areas and resolve them with integrity
  • Ability to communicate with and understand the needs of internal clients.  Interacts with all internal departments as well as external auditors and vendors.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to interact effectively with diverse groups inside and outside of the organization
