Tecan CDMO is seeking a Production Supervisor for our second OPS department, which contributes to the profitable growth of its highly successful contract manufacturing services business (Paramit). This role will lead our team of geographically disbursed US business development professionals and report to the Production Manager.
In this role, you will apply job skills and company internal procedures and policies to complete a wide range of intermediate tasks. You will be the front line in providing hands-on leadership for production personnel.
Collaborating and working with Production Control Planning, you will assist your team in meeting their schedules and monitoring the workflow and resources. As an essential part of our production leadership team, you will resolve problems while fostering cooperation within and between departments to meet cost, quality, and quantity requirements. Promoting the culture of quality and continuous improvement in all aspects of the production process is a key part of this role.
Reports to: Production Manager
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Generate a manufacturing schedule to meet customer requirements.
- Responsible for the creation, distribution, and filing of shop orders. Responsible for ensuring the whereabouts of the shop order as it travels through production.
- Assign an appropriate serial number series to each shop order.
- May investigate shortages.
- Inform buyers of immediate materials shortages.
- Within the established guidelines, respond to requests for delivery commitments from the Order Administrator, Sales/Customer Service.
- Assure inventory accuracy by monitoring inventory transactions and inventory reconciliation.
- File completed shop orders using the Device History Procedure.
- Work with production staff and Operations Manager to ensure on-time delivery of orders to customers.
- Communicate material or production issues that affect the ability to meet the current production schedule.
- Aid in the implementation of engineering change orders (COs).
- Open and close reservations for internal material requirements from various departments, such as Service, R&D, Marketing, etc.
- Supervise, lead, and provide necessary ongoing training to achieve output targets.
- May inspect products and review final test to verify conformance to quality specifications.
- Maintain quality and output requirements. Inform relevant personnel of product problems and coordinate solutions, collaborating with cross-functional groups to resolve problems.
- Recommend and schedule team members overtime for the assigned production group when necessary to achieve production goals.
- Hold a daily cell meeting and set expectations for the day.
- Actively participate in Lean improvement activities and encourage team participation.
- Provide input to hiring, termination, and performance review decisions per company policy and in cooperation with the manager and Human Resources.
- Ensure the quality policy is understood, implemented, and maintained at all levels of the organization through an adequate organizational structure to ensure that devices are
designed and produced following Tecan's Quality System and ISO Registration requirements.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment; ensure compliance with all safety regulations.
TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Requires a minimum of three years related planning experience with at least four years of supervisory experience in a fast-paced, high-volume medical device manufacturing environment.
- Experience in training, developing, and managing a large team is essential. This team has 40 employees working two shifts (day and swing shift).
- Experience with PCBA soldering, loading, assembly, and wave soldering is key.
- Medical device production, FDA regulations, and ISO compliance are highly desired.
- Familiarity with production planning and management, including computerized material planning.
- Knowledge of electronic and electro/mechanical assembly and test processes, materials, and equipment.
- A demonstrated understanding of Lean principles preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds and do repetitive work.
- Availability to work beyond shift time and on some weekends as needed is imperative.
- Must be able to stand and walk for the majority of the working shift
Salary range: $83,000.00 - $93,000.00 DOE
