Key Account Manager, OEM Components

What you will do

The Key Account Manager, OEM Components serves customers by selling PB Component products. Develops and tracks annual sales revenue for a specific territory/accounts in the U.S.  They will meet or exceed annual territory sales revenue budgets while operating within expense budgets.  They are responsible for key account strategies, SAP CRM database of customers opportunities, contacts, contracts and customer relations. They will create and manage customer experience at the highest level.

 

Responsibilities will include

  • Serves as a responsible representative of Tecan US, Inc. and PB Components and operates with integrity and honesty in all business contacts.
  • Works closely with PB Systems team to create synergies across the business by developing and executing key account strategies.
  • Meets or exceeds set performance incentives which include sales budget attainment, opportunity development and other similar financial goals .
  • Develops and maintains a high level of consultative component integration sales skills, sufficient knowledge of accounts and product knowledge with associated features and benefits required to convert customer needs to sales.
  • Develops a strong understanding of competitive products, tactics and markets and develops strategies to overcome the competition in sales situations.  
  • Develops and actively maintains CRM database.
  • Negotiates and administers contracts in conjunction with the Sales Director and marketing.
  • Develops and maintains effective time, territory, and account management practices.
  • Tracks and maintains consignment and demo equipment.
  • Generates quote work-ups for formal processing and tracking.
  • Participates in local, regional and national shows as requested.
  • Ensures the quality policy is understood, implemented and maintained at all levels of the organization through adequate organizational structure to ensure the devices are designed and produced in accordance with the requirements of the Quality System Regulation and ISO 9001.
  • Complies with federal, state and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; advising customer on product development and equipment adherence to requirements; advising customer on needed actions.
  • Updates and provides a timely territory sales forecast of each account and product on a monthly basis or as requested by management CRM.
  • Responds to and resolves customer complaints or problems that arise, by personal action. Ability to investigate problems, develop solutions, make recommendations to management and by securing the assistance and support from others in the organization including the Helpdesk.
  • Maintains a home sales office and expenses within budget guidelines.
  • Maintains all company supplied equipment and material in a safe, useable and serviceable condition.
  • Completes all reports and customer information effectively and consistently as deemed necessary by the company
  • Reports market trends and contributes new product ideas to Tecan’s marketing group.
  • Ability to travel overnight up to 50% - Can include weekends for sales meetings and tradeshows along with some international travel.
  • Handles essential tasks as assigned, and responds to change productively.

  • Must have working knowledge of instrumentation design and development process.
  • Must have working knowledge of instrument/software programming.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve business issues while also managing costs and risks
  • Ability to recognize and manage potential problem areas and resolve them with integrity
  • Ability to communicate with and understand the needs of internal and external clients
  • Strong organizational and management skills
  • Ability to communicate highly technical mechanical solutions clearly
  • Strong presentation skills demonstrated before customer, peers, and upper management
  • Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work out of a home based office.
  • Ability to interact well with the existing management team and sales team by being a good listener, a team builder and an articulate advocate of the vision
  • Ability to travel extensively, at times on short notice and internationally. 
  • Ability to work well under pressure, to multi task

Experience

  • BA degree in Engineering, or extensive experience with electromechanical devices is required.  Electrical engineering or Systems engineering preferred. Masters preferred.
  • Product design and development experience required.
  • Proven track record with a minimum of 5 years field sales experience in B2B sales. Preferably in OEM IVD, medical device, or design services market.
  • Business and management courses desirable.
  • Management training helpful and formal sales training required.
  • Must have aptitude for and understanding of Electrical, Mechanical assemblies and software.
  • Practical computer skills
