We are looking for a motivated and organized individual to join our team as a Sales Specialist on a 1-year fixed-term contract.

In this role, you will play a key part in driving business growth by building strong customer relationships, identifying new sales opportunities, and supporting our customers throughout the sales journey in a dynamic and international environment.

Sales Specialist Detection – 100%
Location:  Sweden

Fixed-term contract – 1 year 

In this challenging and important role, you will be responsible for managing and growing sales of Tecan’s Detection solutions within your assigned territory. You will develop strong know-how in customer applications, instrument capabilities, user software, and provide demonstrations, presentations, and customer training. From prospecting to closing deals, you will ensure customer satisfaction and contribute to sustainable and ethical business growth.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible and accountable for Detection sales performance in the assigned territory, including order entry and sales targets.
  • Manage the sales process from prospecting and opportunity qualification through quotation, negotiation, order entry, and revenue recognition.
  • Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of Detection opportunities through active prospecting, customer visits, attendance at seminars and events, and collaboration with local sales teams.
  • Provide technical and consultative sales support to understand customer needs, workflows, applications, and business objectives.
  • Position and promote Tecan’s Detection portfolio, including microplate readers, washers, imaging, and related solutions, according to customer needs and application requirements.
  • Perform or coordinate, in collaboration with pre-sales, customer demonstrations and product presentations to raise awareness of Tecan’s Detection solutions.
  • Manage customer expectations and, where necessary, challenge whether requested solutions are realistic, practical, or aligned with Tecan’s capabilities.
  • Prepare and submit customer documentation, including quotations, tender responses, RFQs, and supporting commercial documents.
  • Ensure weekly and accurate updates of CRM, including opportunities, activities, forecast information, and next steps.
  • Provide regional market intelligence on customer needs, competitor activity, pricing pressure, market trends, and emerging application areas.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders, strategic customers, partners, and relevant stakeholders to support business growth.
  • Contribute to regional growth plans in line with overall company objectives and local business priorities.
  • Support the installation process after receipt of sales order when required, including coordination with Service, Application Specialists, and Customer Operations.
  • Provide initial customer training or coordinate appropriate training resources where applicable.
  • Collaborate positively with other territories, local Sales, Service, Application Specialists, Sales Development, Marketing, Customer Operations, and Product Management.
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities for Liquid Handling, Automation, Service, Consumables, and Reagents and hand them over to the responsible colleagues when appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with Tecan’s values, code of conduct, quality standards, and business processes.

Your Background

  • Degree in Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Engineering, Business, or equivalent professional experience in a relevant commercial or technical role.
  • 2–3 years of professional experience in sales, business development, application support, or product specialist roles within life sciences, diagnostics, laboratory instrumentation, or a related field.
  • Experience in customer-facing activities, including customer visits, presentations, demonstrations, seminars, and follow-up of commercial opportunities.
  • Ability to understand customer workflows and translate technical requirements into suitable Tecan solutions.
  • Experience using CRM systems to manage opportunities, pipeline, forecast, and customer activities.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in Swedish and English.
  • Basic knowledge of detection technologies and applications such as absorbance, fluorescence, luminescence, ELISA, cell-based assays, and microplate-based workflows.
  • Ability to present technical solutions, support customer demonstrations, and explain product benefits in a consultative sales context.
  • Confident use of CRM systems and standard Microsoft Office tools.

Nice to Have:

  • Advanced scientific background/PhD in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or comparable field.
  • Experience with broader Tecan solutions (Liquid Handling, Automation, etc.).
