What you will do
Under general supervision, acquires and administers an optimum balance of cost, quality and supplier service, materials and services necessary to meet the objectives of the company. Plans and performs broad assignments involving the purchase of components, assemblies, services, MRO and capital. Promote culture of quality and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities will include
- Analyze planned MRP for off-the-shelf and low-complexity productions materials. Make decisions with respect to optimum purchase quantity, delivery date and price.
- Process purchase requisitions for non-production material and communicate delivery expectation to requisitioner.
- Expedite materials as needed to meet customer demands with minimal expediting fees.
- Conduct and document procurement activities and negotiations to support prudent buying decisions and protect Tecan from price increases and other liabilities.
- Gain familiarity with raw materials in order to provide data that could lead to the use of alternative materials, suppliers, methods or specifications.
- Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with current and potential suppliers, using a “partnership” approach.
- Process approved capital equipment requisitions by following established procedures.
- Responsible for filing and archiving purchasing records and activities per established procedures.
- Participate in Material Review Board meetings to review non-conforming materials and make decisions on any corrective actions, which may include participating in supplier audits.
- Responsible for processing non-conforming material and ensuring supplier issued credits when non-conformance is determined to be caused by the supplier.
- Generate effective communication, good relations and a positive, service-oriented image with coworkers. Promote courtesy, objectivity and fairness.
What you bring along
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or technical field, or equivalent relevant experience preferred.
- Three to five years procurement or related experience.
- Experience in MRP required. MRPII desirable.
- Experience in purchasing electronic, custom molded plastic and fabricated components preferred.
- Computer proficiency in a Microsoft Office environment required. SAP experience a plus.
- Proven ability to work under time-sensitive and cost pressures.
- Excellent written and verbal skills necessary.
- Must be professional and discreet with a track record of making good business decisions with a minimal amount of supervision.
