Material Handler
This is a temporary role, 32 hours per week.
What you will do
Under general supervision, performs manual and clerical duties in materials areas such as receiving, storing and issuing materials, parts, supplies and equipment. Utilizes small hand tools and operates material handling equipment including forklifts, skids, pallet handlers, hand trucks, etc. Receive all materials from suppliers and customers. Receive finished goods from QA. Package and ship all outbound products and materials. Performs manual and clerical duties related to receiving, stores and shipping. Maintains necessary documentation and records.
Responsibilities will include
- Pick material ready to ship and check goods against shipping documents and authorizations.
- Packs goods for shipment according to specifications, equipment characteristics, transportation methods and routes.
- Perform bagging and tagging operations and labels packages as required.
- Verify correctness of packaged shipments to packing slip/shipping paperwork.
- Maintain shipping files in an orderly manner to aid in reconciliation and investigation of invoices or inventory discrepancies.
- Assemble and kit customer orders based on documentation such as shop orders or miscellaneous issues. Assure accuracy.
- May assist with cycle counts of components and finished goods inventory.
- May enter shipping and receiving transactions into the computer system, noting shipping method.
- May contact trucking firm.
- Labels packages as required.
- May run shipping report daily at close of business.
- Uses forklift as required.
What you bring along
High school education required. Basic reading, writing and math skills. Certified forklift training required. One or two years of experience in shipping/receiving/warehouse environment including use of computerized materials management system. Good verbal and written skills. Good organizational and time management skills. Able to learn new procedures quickly. Flexible, able to adjust to changing priorities.
