Project Manager, Components

What you will do

Manage multiple product development projects of varying complexity in parallel from concept to production.  Lead cross-functional project teams through development and release of new products or life cycle management of existing products.

Ensures focused communication to the different stake holders and customers

 

 

Responsibilities will include

  1. Manages projects to meet requirements, quality, timeline, COGS and budget expectations from inception through product release in compliance with Tecan’s product development procedures as well as all applicable standards.
     
  2. Develop technical product and manufacturing concepts and specifications in close communication with sales/marketing and customers to deliver products that best satisfies customer needs and intended use. 
     
  3. Overall responsible for the on-time, on-budget execution of projects in compliance with applicable internal and external regulations and procedures.

 

  1. Responsible for cost planning and other inputs required for the monthly global reporting and resource allocation cycle.
     
  2. Ensures close communication and coordination with stake holders for each project (Marketing, Customers, Purchasing, Logistics and Production, Quality etc.)

 

  1. Provide hands-on project leadership to assigned projects across all departments including external development partners and customers.  

 

  1. Investigates and solves problems with released products.  Perform root cause analysis.  Interface directly with customers to assist in resolution of specific application problems unique to their use of our products.

 

  1. Ensure that products are designed, documented  and produced in accordance with the requirements of the Tecan Quality Management System

 

  1. Compiles and maintains the Design History File and ensures they are compliant for products under development.

 

 

What you bring along

  • BS or MS in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum five years of industry experience, including two years of increasingly complex project management and experience in design or engineering role. 
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced, customer focused environment.
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Efficient, solution oriented.
  • Excellent verbal and written communicator.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and/or review thorough documentation.
  • Experienced with different project management methods as agile or visual project management
  • Able and willing to adhere to stringent development procedures.

 

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

 

  • Experience with development of life science or medical instruments with liquid handling.
  • Experience with SW/FW projects of moderate complexity.
  • Experience in a phase-gate or milestone environment
  • Able to motivate and build consensus within project team.  Lead by example.
  • DFM/DFA and DOE experience desirable.
  • Development of products with small electro-mechanical components.

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

Travel up to 10% domestic and international.
Visits to customers or suppliers, usually as part of project work.
