Quality Engineering Manager

What you will do

Responsible for managing a team of Quality Engineers and Technicians as well as lncoming lnspectors to meet the quality goals of the company; including Supplier Quality, lncoming lnspection, Production, Product Development and Customer Complaints. Partners with all levels of the organization to ensure effective process improvement, investigations and CAPA. This position functions as a hands-on technical leader and participates in strategic planning for the organization.

 

Responsibilities will include

  • Manage Quality team to ensure they are effectively executing daily activities required by the different functions of the organization.
  • Demonstrate ability to be a hands on leader by motivating, mentoring and coaching the quality engineering team to meet quality, delivery and cost goals.
  • Process owner for one or more quality processes, e.g. Supplier Audits, Control of Non-Conforming Product, etc.
  • Drive improvement projects that focus on Quality, Customer Satisfaction, Efficiency and Cost Reduction.
  • Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions for internal nonconformances, CAPA and customer complaints.
  • Manage employee performance; including training, performance appraisals and time and attendance. Provide input and recommendations to Director of QA/RA regarding disciplinary actions.
  • Generate appropriate performance metrics and trends.
  • Provide regular updates to management.
  • Support the Quality System and Policy by following the policies, procedures and work instructions and performing the responsibilities under the authority for this position. Complete the necessary actions to create records to meet the requirements for the Quality System Regulation, applicable ISO standards and the legal regulations applicable to Tecan Systems, lnc.

 

What you bring along

  • BS in ME/EE preferred, plus 8 years of Quality Engineering experience in support of product development and manufacturing.
  • Two (2) or more years managerial experience.
  • Understands and applies principles, concepts, practices and industry standards,specifically FDA QSRY/ISO 13485.
  • Must possess a high standard for quality, and set the expectation for others.
  • Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, including good facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • SAP and Minitab experience plus competency with other database/programs desirable.
  • Capable of reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) skills a plus.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical problem solving (CAPA) skills.
  • Project management and leadership skills, including the demonstrated ability to lead the Quality function in multi-departmental project teams and resolve quality-related issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively at varying levels and with an international audience.
  • ASQ, CQE, and Six Sigma a plus.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Travel, domestic and international, up to 25%
  • Ab¡lity to stand or walk for prolonged periods
  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Perform repetitive motions with hands/fingers
