Senior Motion Control Engineer (80-100%)

Your contribution

In this challenging and impactful role, you will be at the forefront of designing, implementing, and testing advanced drive chain concepts and sensing applications for existing- and our next-generation robotic and automation platforms. You will lead the evaluation, collaborate closely with the embedded software, mechanical and electrical specialists, and ensure the performance, reliability, and robustness of our solutions. As a technical mentor and coach, you will support and guide other engineers, contribute to cross-project consistency, and drive continuous improvement in our processes and best practices. Your expertise will help shape the future of healthcare innovation.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead drive concept evaluation, including different actor and sensor types, transmission, and initialization procedures
  • Perform motor dimensioning, work point calculation, and simulation
  • Review and refine robotic and automation concepts
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software/system architects
  • Develop and improve internal control tools and processes
  • Lead root cause investigations and risk assessments
  • Mentor and coach engineers, apprentices, trainees, and students
  • Initiate collaborations with academia and external partners
  • Ensure compliance with processes, SOPs, directives, and guidelines
  • Contribute to the system-wide platform strategy

 

Your background

  • Technical degree in computer science, robotics, control technology, electrical or software engineering
  • 6+ years of experience in instrument development, preferably in the medical device industry
  • Expertise in motion control, robotics, control theory, and signal processing
  • Experience with scientific programming; knowledge of C++, C#, Python or
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and research skills
  • Demonstrated experience in leading teams and assuming technical ownership of projects, ensuring successful delivery and high-quality outcomes
  • Excellent communication and moderation skills in English, German would be a nice to have
  • Experience with agile principles and R&D development processes
  • Passion for continuous learning and improvement
